What is Thermography - Exclusive In-House Processing at SDP

Thermography produces raised printing, similar in appearance to engraving, but using a different process. In thermography, a special powder is added to the ink printed on the paper. The printed piece is heated and the powder and ink mixture dries to form a raised effect on the paper.

For the layman, thermography is a process that raises the ink on your project so that it is able to be felt.  It is a cost effective option for clients who want the look of engraving, but are uninterested in the high prices associated with that process.  A great feature of thermography is in the choices of powders that create different effects.  A favorite here at Sierra Discount Printing is in using metalllic thermographic powders to create interesting & palpable effects on our  printed pieces.  (A great choice for invitations)  Sierra Discount Printing is one of the only print shops in the North Tahoe area who exclusively produces thermographed pieces in house.  What that means for you is lower prices & a greater ability to control the final output.
